Introduction to Mindfulness Retreat – Uganda

Course fees: $150 (includes hire of retreat space, equipment and facilitators time.

Food and Accommodation:  $165 includes three nights’ accommodation with full board.

This three day retreat is an introduction to mindfulness, the practice of bringing awareness into our present moment experience and living more fully and with more ease within this.

We will be cultivating mindfulness through a combination of guided meditation practices, mindful movement and group dialogue. There will be periods of silence during the retreat which are really supportive in the development of this moment to moment awareness. 

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a state of mind which arises when awareness is deliberately brought to the present moment in a non-judgemental way. Many people find that they spend a great deal of the time occupied by thoughts about the past or worrying about the future and miss the present moment altogether. Mindfulness practices help us to notice when the mind is elsewhere and bring it back to the present moment. This can lead to a deeper sense of awareness and connection to whatever we are experiencing and make us more conscious of

Mount Elgon region of Uganda, Sipi River Lodge is quiet and peaceful with stunning views of the famous Sipi waterfalls which run through its gardens. It provides delicious food and comfortable lodging. Please visit their website for further information about this unique location.

Travel

Once everyone has booked on for the course we will send everyone’s contact email around and you can coordinate between each other about sharing transport if you wish to do this. There is also a provisional plan for hiring a minivan to run from Kampala through Jinja and direct to Sipi River Lodge for everyone to chip in for to make it hassle free and keep the costs down.
