From June to September 2012, through funding from the Strategic Insight Programme (SIP), Sholto has been working with Golygfa Gwydyr through his role at Bangor University’s Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) to help integrate mindfulness into their community service provision. The initial stages involved running an eight week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course for staff members, volunteers and members of the community. Sholto has also been developing ways to deliver mindfulness in Golygfa Gwyder’s unique forest labyrinth and provided mindfulness tasters and introductions for other local service providers. The placement has just finished and the report will soon be available on the SIP website. Sholto is looking forward to continued involvement with Golygfa Gwydyr and running mindfulness events in their forest labyrinth with Wilderness Minds.
Here are some photos from the Sunday mindful walk which was part of the Living with Ease and Connection three day retreat led by Sarah Silverston and Sholto Radford for the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice. After a morning together walking and practicing mindfulness by the Nantlle lake and waterfalls, Sholto led half the group up Mynydd Tal-y-mignedd (653m) with dramatic weather and spectacular views.
This mindfulness taster day run by Wilderness Minds founder Sholto Radford came together with the support of Caro Schiansky, a yoga teacher based in the Shrewsbury area. The interest seeded by this day has lead to the organisation of a full eight week mindfulness course which will begin in January 2013 – please see further details .
