Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Ryton


The final session of the MBSR course in Ryton village hall near Shrewsbury. It was a real pleasure to facilitate the group, to practice and learn alongside you. It looks unlikely that there will be a course next Autumn as I will be running an MBSR course for Parabl in North Wales but there is possibility of a course in 2015.

Yet again we were blessed with fantastic weather for this autumn residential retreat at Trigonos. Thank you to all who came and shared in this experience and to the Trigonos team for providing such fantastic food and hospitality. I look forward to the next residential retreat in April.

Last wild camping retreat of the year

Okay so no one braved wild swimming in the mountain lakes on this retreat but for the first two days the weather held out and we had impressive views camping up by a secluded mountain lake. On the second night we returned down to the valley and set up a bell tent as there was a forecast of high winds in the early hours. The night was stunningly clear and starry and after dinner around a fire we fell asleep to the sound of the river.

For this weekend of wild camping and mindfulness practice we headed up into the Carneddau mountains of Snowdonia. We made camp by a beautiful mountain stream, had peaceful encounters with wild horses and picked fresh bilberries for breakfast. Three days and feeling thoroughly refreshed.

Three days spent in a stunning and remote part of Snowdonia wild camping and engaging with mindfulness practice in this dramatic landscape.

Returning to the simplicity of just being in this environment, along with guided meditation practices  allowed us to settled and connect more deeply with the momentary experience of  the senses and  the wilderness and nature around us.  The fine weather granted us with the opportunity to swim in cool mountain lakes and watch the sun setting over the mountains of Snowdonia.

A deeply nourishing experience was had by all and an aspiration to carry some of this stillness forward as we return to our daily lives.

Mindfulness in the Mountains

The weather couldn’t have been better for this day of mindfulness in Snowdonia. A small group of us set off from the village of Abergwyngregyn in the cool and clear Sunday morning. For the next five hours we spent time in mindfulness practice, inquiry and silent walking, enjoying the stunning views of  Aber falls and looking East out over the Carneddua from the top of Moel Wnion.
